Caves & Volcanoes | Small Group Jeep Tour to Reykjanes Peninsula
Join us on this small group adventure tour, where your guide takes you to the lava fields of Reykjanes. This site is the heart of a nearby volcanic system Krýsuvík that last erupted some 850 years ago. After just a short drive from Reykjavík, we turn off the beaten track and head into the lava field south of the city. The view is stunning, and the lava field with its strange formations bring to life all the troll stories that were meant to keep people away, and it doesn't take more than a few steps in almost impassable lava to understand the bad reputation of this area that the past generations called the Burntlands. Travelling over the mountain pass at Háuhnjúkar, we enter the volcanic area to take in the raw beauty of lake Kleifarvatn. The black sand beaches and the unique rock formations that make up the hills and the mountains are made of ash, and volcanic debris and the lake itself was formed by a melting glacier. Calm on the surface, but the lake sits right on top of the fault lines on the tectonic divide and actually hides some beautiful hot springs underneath the surface which make it a popular snorkelling site in summer. The Krýsuvík volcanic system looks nothing like the classic cone shape mountain. The fault lines cross all the way to the capital area, so it is under constant watch and one of the most researched geothermal areas in Iceland. We'll hike the path between bubbling fumaroles at the geothermal site, Seltún, that sits on top of the massive magma chamber and you can literally see, hear and smell the earth boiling. After that, we head to the lava fields again and on to Leiðarendi cave that was formed some 2000 years ago. The cave is completely natural with no man-made pathways or artificial lights, and it is one of few accessible caves that has not been “developed” for mass tourism. This is the best way to experience the colourful inside of the lava field, an expert guide and a small group of like-minded adventurers. Fully equipped with helmets and headlamps, we enter the cave and work our way through the rockfalls and low ceilings, even on all four at times. Not to worry though, as there are no tight spaces you have to squeeze through and your guide will always adjust the route to fit each group best. After our caving adventure, we will head back into the city for the afternoon. Don't miss this fantastic exploration of the hidden gem that is Reykjanes peninsula. Reykjanes Tour in Small Group | Optional Drop Off at the Blue Lagoon or Keflavik Airport
Enjoy the many geological marvels and geothermal wonders that reside on the Reykjanes Peninsula. This sightseeing tour is perfect for those who want to witness Iceland’s raw volcanism while avoiding the most crowded tourist destinations. You will be picked up from Reykjavík in the morning, and be whisked south-west to Reykjanes. If, like almost every other traveller in the country, you arrived in Iceland at Keflavík International Airport, you will have seen some of this barren and haunting peninsula as you headed to the capital. To explore it in depth, however, will reveal hidden gem after hidden gem. There are a multitude of sites to get to on this tour. First up will be several beautiful lakes. The largest of these, Kleifarvatn, is serene in itself, but surrounded by massive, jagged mountains; part of it also gently bubbles due to the geothermal activity beneath the surface. Grænavatn is also on the agenda, an unusual crater lake, that lives up to its name of the ‘Green Lake’. Next up are the peninsula’s geothermal areas. Krýsuvík has a walkway that will lead you over multicoloured patches of earth to the site’s fumaroles and hot springs and has many signs explaining the subterranean forces at work here. Gunnuhver’s main attraction is the largest mud-pot in the country, and its signs, conversely, will tell you all about the region’s folklore. You will spend the next part of the tour along the dramatic, craggy coastline of the Reykjanes Peninsula to look out for the birds. Dozens of species and tens of thousands of individuals nest on the peninsula, making it quite the birdwatcher’s paradise. This tour is perfect to book if you want to get to the Blue Lagoon or the airport after your exploration, as your guide can drop you off at both locations. If you opt for the lagoon, you will need to book your ticket in advance, as well as the bus transfer back (buses run very regularly between the pools and capital). Don’t miss this amazing day of sightseeing across the little-explored Reykjanes Peninsula. Check availability by choosing a date.

Blue Lagoon and the Moon | Reykjanes Landscapes (Blue Lagoon admission included)
Discover the country's geothermal powers and end the day relaxing in the warm waters of the Blue Lagoon on this fantastic day tour, suited for all those who want to immerse themselves in the wild Icelandic nature. After being picked up, you will begin your adventure by heading out through a thrilling lava field on your way to the Reykjanes Peninsula, in the south-west of Iceland, located only a short drive from Reykjavík city. You will be driven past Kleifarvatn, a large lake located in a fissure zone on the boundaries of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. From there you will visit Seltún, an area nearby where the geothermal activity comes to the surface in the form of bubbling mud pools, colourful ground, and powerful steam vents. After a nice walk around Seltún area, you will visit one of the hottest places in Iceland, Gunnuhver. The temperature under the surface is around 300° C at this steaming hot spring, and the whole area was once considered haunted by a ghost called Gunna who lent the region its name. After passing the Reykjanesviti lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in Iceland, you will take a walk towards the sea where you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean, high cliffs and black rock formations. Afterwards, you will be driven to the bridge between two continents. The bridge is a small footbridge over a major fissure, which was formed by shifting of the two continental plates, Eurasian and North American plates. The tour ends in the relaxing atmosphere of the Blue Lagoon. Vibrant blue water at the perfect temperature will help you unwind after a day of sightseeing. Afterwards, you will be taken back to the city through the small town Hafnarfjörður, located in a lava field. Visit the Volcanoes
Join this sightseeing expedition to enjoy and experience stunning views of volcanoes, plateaus and mesmerising mountains. This is an excellent option for those really looking to gain an insight into Iceland's geological history, as well as the current effects that volcanoes have on the environment. You'll start the tour by seeing an hour-long documentary at the Volcano House. It is an excellent way to warm up for the tour as it greatly helps to imagine what previous eruptions might have looked, as well as how future ones may arise. When the film is finished, you'll venture off the beaten path to visit the volcanoes around Reykjavík, some of which are overdue to erupt. You will hear everything about the volcanic activity and what will most likely happen in the century's upcoming eruptions. You will then take the road less travelled to some jet-black, volcanic rock formations and mossy filled lava fields. Your guide will be happy to explain the geology in a way everyone understands and can relate. You might also hear stories of trolls, the old Nordic gods, outlaws and the hidden people. If you love stories, love to see beautiful places and get the authentic local experience from people that love to share their passion for this island, this is a tour for you. This tour is operated by a small family business that likes to give good experiences to small groups. So, coming on a tour should be like finally visiting your exchange student from Iceland and have his family showing you the most exciting places in Iceland. There is a maximum of 12 guests per vehicle on this guided tour. Very often the groups count less than 6 people so the experience is the next thing to going on a private tour. So, don't miss out on this opportunity to explore Iceland with the locals. Check booking availability by choosing a date.
