Location & Nearby

The Blue Mountain Apartments are found in Kopavogur, one of the towns that make up the Greater Reykjavik Area, and the second-largest urban centre in Iceland after the capital itself. It is just 15 minute’s drive from the city centre, from which you can easily walk to sites such as Hallgrimskirkja Church, the Harpa Concert Hall, and the National Gallery of Iceland.

If you haven’t rented a car, you can still reach these attractions in under an hour on public transport.

The Blue Mountain Apartments have spectacular nature on their doorstep, most notably being just a short walk from the magnificent Lake Ellidavatn. Kopavogur also boasts the Gerðarsafn Kopavogur Art Museum, a lovely swimming pool, the shopping mall of Smarilind, and a picturesque church, all within a short driving distance.

Most tour operators will be able to pick you up from the Blue Mountain Apartments or nearby, and considering Reykjavik is the centre of the country’s tourism industry, this will allow you to access much of the country. Day tours around the Golden Circle, Snaefellsnes Peninsula and South Coast, for example, can all be arranged with pick up from near the hotel, or easily explored by those staying here and renting a car.

There are 30 Blue Mountain Apartments, spread across six floors and coming in six varieties: standard, deluxe queen, family, king, deluxe double and deluxe king. Their main differences are their sizes; the first is 35 sqm, the next two are 44 sqm, the king suite is 53 sqm, and the latter two are 54 sqm. Furthermore, the suites prefixed with ‘deluxe’ are on higher floors, thus boast better city views.

Though all can sleep up to four, only three guests are recommended in the smaller flats.

All apartments have a luxurious bedroom, a comfortable living area with a sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchen and a modern bathroom. Amenities such as hairdryers, coffee machines and flat-screen televisions are all included, and the whole building has access to fast Wifi. Every suite is styled with hardwood floors and rich furnishings, in line with contemporary Icelandic design.

Guests of the Blue Mountain Apartments will get access to the Reebok Fitness Gym, which is located in the same building as the suites. As this accommodation is self-catering, meals are not provided, but there is a supermarket named Bonus just 200 metres away, and a Give and Take Room where you can pick up - and leave behind - foodstuffs, condiments and spices. There is also a communal laundry room.
