There is one museum in town. The Settlement Centre houses two exhibitions, one on the Settlement Era and another on the Saga of Egil. It's located 3.1 miles (five kilometers) from Hotel Hafnarfjall.

In the opposite direction, the Langjokull glacier is less than 37 miles (60 kilometers) to the east. Glymur, the second tallest waterfall in Iceland, is also 32 miles (51 kilometers) east.
