Akureyri Hostel and Cottages welcomes you to a modern accommodation centrally located in Akureyri, the capital of the north.

For over 50 years the same family has been welcoming travelers from all over the world. Providing guests with great hospitality and a friendly atmosphere, where guests can relax and recharge for their journey around Iceland. We enjoy sharing our knowledge of the area with our guests and make their visit a great experience.

Akureyri Hostel is the perfect place to stay to enjoy the nature and culture Akureyri has to offer. It is also a good base to stay at to explore all the beautiful areas around.

Our location allows our guests to have their privacy and a good night rest. But it is close to all the major attractions, restaurants and services.

Centrally located by road number 1 so it is easy to find, marked with signs and flags.

Famous sights nearby include the Goðafoss waterfalls, the capital of whale-watching, Húsavík and lake Mývatn are all are within an hour's drive as many more interesting places. Hlidarfjall ski resort is only about seven minutes drive.

Facilities and Amenities

Hostel with everything needed for a good stay plus free private parking on site.

There is a variety of accommodation options ranging from private rooms such as single and twin room, family and friend size rooms triple and quadruple. We also offer dormitory.

Along with rooms we have small cabin for two or cottages for up to six persons each.

With each room comes access to good common facilities; fully equipped kitchen, dining areas, living rooms, bathrooms, outdoor patio with furniture and BBQ.

All rooms have flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, hairdryer, table & chairs, reading lights, cloth rack and more. Our dorm room is very well organized so each person has its space and privacy along with access to a locker.

Small cottage has private toilet but access to the hostel for shower and other common areas.

Cottages have bed for six persons, it has private kitchen, dining area, living room, patio with furniture and BBQ, access to a hot tub for relaxing after a long day.

Free luggage storage and ski storage.

Linen and towels are included in the price.

Breakfast at a close by bakery can be added for a small fee.

We are a family friendly Hostel and we also welcome wheelchair travellers.
