In this travel blog, I want to introduce you to the half-troll Ármann in Mt. Ármannsfell in South Iceland. Ármann was related to Bárður Snæfellsás, the protector of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, about whom I have written another travel blog. Ármann is much less known than Bárður Snæfellsás, though, and that is why I want to tell you a little about him and the games on Hofmannaflöt plains by Þingvellir national park. Kerið in Grímsnes is a quite impressive, oval-shaped volcanic crater filled with a lake, formed during a volcanic eruption some 6,500 years ago. Folklore is connected to the lake in the crater, which tells of a water kelpie living there. Iceland can be magical in the wintertime when the low angle of the winter sun lights up the surroundings. On a freezing winter day in the darkest month of the year, I visited Gamla laugin - the Secret Lagoon in South Iceland. The temperatures were low -14 degrees C, and it became even colder later in the day at -18 degrees C, but it was still, clear skies and beautiful white snow covered the whole of Iceland.
