This trip was beyond anything we have ever experienced while traveling. Our guide, Hafþór, was not only super professional and experienced, but also a good-vibes-only kind of person, DJ, and photographer. He became a dear part of this experience—a friend whom we hope to meet again. If you are thinking about doing the same trip on your own, I honestly don’t think it’s possible to have the same experience. You would spend so much time planning and booking places to stay, which can become overbooked or overpriced. Driving can also be exhausting. Having everything handled by professionals makes this holiday so easy and fun. One piece of advice if you are traveling for longer: bring waterproof jackets (or maybe two!) and some snacks—and just go.
