Northern Lights in Reykjavík (The strongest ones I ever saw)
Dear Friends, today I will be a man of few words. Yesterday, we experienced some extremely strong Northern-Lights. The Solar activity levels started rising up like crazy already by 18:00 and as we started the tour, a bit before 21:00 you could already see some Northern Lights.
I was then really scared that everything would be gone before we could find a good place out of the city lights, but as we drove just a couple of minutes North of Reykjavík the Aurora grew stronger, and stronger, and stronger…
We jumped out of the bus on the first parking space available. What followed was, quite simply, the strongest Northern Lights I had ever seen. No s..t! We could even see red in the sky, which was filled with Northern Lights from North to South.
We even saw, just above our heads, several mighty Corona, dancing and swirling for hours and hours… I had never taken a decent picture of a Corona before, but this time I had more than enough occasions to get some pretty good shots.
I even managed to get a shot of great Northern Lights not with one, but with TWO Shooting stars crossing the skies. This really was an impressive sight:
I don’t think that more words are necessary. What we saw was stuff of legend. As I am typing these words, just an hour after coming back to town, I hear from the BBC that Northern Lights were so strong that they could even be seen from Wales and England. I guess if I wanted to retire, it would be the time now…But Hell, I won’t !
