Settle into The Collector's House by Muse, six self-catering apartments in Reykjavik inside a converted 1908 timber house on Laugavegur Street. Each unit carries traces of the building's past as an art exhibition space, from an original fresco to gallery-lit windows. It suits couples, remote workers, and travelers who want a design-forward base near the Icelandic capital's landmarks.
Location & Nearby
The Collector's House by Muse sits on Laugavegur in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. This central spot puts you on the city's main pedestrian shopping street, an easy walk from restaurants, galleries, and the waterfront.
Laugavegur itself is lined with everyday conveniences. Grocery stores, pharmacies, cafes, and restaurants are all within a few minutes' walk, with gas stations and additional shops on the surrounding streets. The street stays walkable, flat, and easy to navigate, whether you're heading out for breakfast or coming back with groceries for the kitchenette.
Hallgrimskirkja Church is about 0.3 miles (0.5 kilometers) away, roughly an 8-minute walk up Skolavordustigur. Harpa Concert Hall and the Sun Voyager Sculpture sit along the waterfront, each about a 10 to 12-minute walk from the apartment.
Keflavik International Airport is about 31 miles (50 kilometers) away, a 45-minute drive. On clear winter nights, the northern lights are sometimes visible over the bay without leaving the city center.
Facilities & Amenities
The Collector's House by Muse has six apartments: The Loft, The Atelier I, The Atelier II, The Nest, The Artist Studio, and The Gallery. Each is a self-contained unit with its own layout, ranging from a compact studio for two to a larger apartment for up to four guests, with wood floors, large windows, and design details tied to the building's art history.
Every apartment has a private bathroom with a shower, and all six stock ANGAN toiletries, an Icelandic-made bath line, along with fresh towels.
For added convenience, all apartments come with their own kitchenette, stocked with a stovetop, refrigerator, coffee maker, and the basics for cooking a meal rather than eating out every night. There's also a dining spot inside the unit.
The Artist Studio keeps an original fresco by Icelandic artist Sigurður Sævar on its wall, a direct link to the building's past as an art exhibition space. The Gallery apartment sits on the floor that once housed a contemporary art gallery, with light and layout that still nod to that history.
Free Wi-Fi and underfloor heating run through every apartment, and several units include a dedicated workspace for remote workers. Some apartments open onto city or garden views, depending on which side of the building they face.
