Opis
Hotel Reykjavik Askja is a four-star hotel on Nautholsvegur, set in the wooded slopes of Oskjuhlid on the southern edge of central Reykjavik. It has 220 rooms, a spa with an indoor pool, a restaurant, conference space, and free parking, which makes it one of the larger full-service hotels in Reykjavik for business or leisure.
Location & Nearby
Hotel Reykjavik Askja sits on Oskjuhlid, the green hill that rises between the city center and the coast. Despite being inside Reykjavik, the setting is quiet and surrounded by trees rather than traffic.
Perlan, the glass dome on top of the hill with its observation deck and ice cave exhibition, is a few minutes' walk uphill. Nautholsvik Geothermal Beach, where heated water is piped into a sheltered cove of imported golden sand, lies the same distance downhill.
Reykjavik Domestic Airport is just 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) away, which is useful if your itinerary includes a flight to Akureyri, Isafjordur, or Egilsstadir.
The city center is close enough to walk. Hallgrimskirkja and Laugavegur are about a mile from the hotel, and the path along the shoreline leads to the Harpa Concert Hall and the old harbor in roughly half an hour on foot.
Further out, Keflavik International Airport is around 28 miles (45 kilometers) by road, and both the Blue Lagoon and Thingvellir National Park sit roughly 30 miles (50 kilometers) away in opposite directions.
Facilities & Amenities
Hotel Reykjavik Askja offers 220 rooms, ranging from standard doubles to spacious suites. All rooms include a private bathroom, television, free Wi-Fi, work desk, in-room safe, mini-cooler, and tea and coffee-making facilities.

The spa is open daily, with hours varying between 10:00 and 11:00 AM for opening and 5:00 and 8:00 PM for closing, depending on the day. Hotel guests receive discounted admission to the spa.
Fitness facilities are also available to hotel guests at no additional cost. For business travelers and larger groups, the hotel offers spacious meeting and conference rooms.
The on-site restaurant serves a breakfast buffet, a daytime bar menu, and a dinner buffet. Brunch is available on weekends and public holidays, while the hotel bar provides a place to enjoy drinks throughout the stay.
Other facilities and services include a 24-hour front desk, free parking, luggage storage, an elevator, and a tour and ticket desk for arranging excursions. Daily housekeeping is available on request, and an on-site charging station is provided.

Why Choose Hotel Reykjavik Askja?
Most Reykjavik hotels make you pick between being downtown and having room to breathe. Hotel Reykjavik Askja sits on a wooded hill a short ride from Laugavegur, which is a rare combination in a city this compact.
With 220 rooms, availability holds up in peak season when the small downtown guesthouses sell out, and the spa, restaurant, and free parking mean a long day on the Ring Road can end without another drive. Check availability now by choosing a date.
