Sorla Camp is located in the Hella area of South Iceland. Selfoss is about 41 km away by road, Hveragerði / Reykjadalur about 54 km, and Seljalandsfoss about 54 km. Sorla Camp sits in the open countryside of South Iceland, beside the Thjorsa River and just over an hour's drive east of Reykjavik. To get there, follow the Ring Road past Selfoss, exit onto Route 26, take Route 286 after 4.4 km, and look for the Sörla signs after 7.3 km. The land is wide and quiet, with sheep and Icelandic horses often grazing nearby, and foxes and mink may also be seen. The property's two highest points offer panoramic views. You get real seclusion while staying close to the south's main sights.

Depending on your stay tier, meals and drinks can be handled on site. For anything else, the town of Hella is the closest hub, with gas stations, grocery stores, and a few restaurants and cafes. The larger town of Selfoss, with more shops and services, is a short drive to the west.

Several of the south's landmarks are within reach. Hekla Volcano rises to the northeast, about a 40-minute drive up the valley road. Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, with its walk-behind path, is roughly an hour away, and Skogafoss Waterfall follows a little farther along the coast.

The Golden Circle makes an easy day trip, with Gullfoss Waterfall and Geysir Geothermal Area about an hour's drive north. Haifoss Waterfall sits up the Thjorsardalur Valley, and in summer the highland road opens toward Landmannalaugar for hiking and geothermal bathing.

Facilities & Amenities

Sorla Camp has four Nordic tipis, each about 45 square meters (485 square feet). Every tipi holds two Jensen beds that set up as twins or join into one king. Inside you'll find wool duvets, Icelandic lamb skins, woolen rugs, adjustable lighting, and walnut furniture built in Iceland. There is no TV, but high-speed Wi-Fi reaches the whole camp.

The three bathrooms sit just outside the tipis in a service house nearby. Each has a walk-in shower and a heated towel rack, plus skincare products, a hair dryer, and a hair straightener. Bathrobes and slip-on shoes are provided for the short walk over, a camping toilet can be placed in your tent at turndown, and there's an outdoor shower for a quick rinse.

Sorla Camp offers four stay tiers. Tildra includes your tipi, exclusive use of the camp, and the baths, with self-catering in the full chef's kitchen and no breakfast. Lóa adds host-cooked breakfast and dinner, drinks, a minibar, snacks, room service, and twice-daily housekeeping with turndown. Rjúpa brings in a local cook, while Spói adds a private fine-dining chef. The bar offers wine pairings and bottles for a surcharge. The heart of the camp is Sorla Baths. A geothermal hot pool, shaped like Iceland's basalt columns and 1.1 m deep, holds a steady flow of warm water, with floating hats and swim caps provided. Beside it are a wooden cold plunge tub and a sauna with wide windows and a Harvia heater that reaches 80°C. Soak here under the midnight sun in summer, or watch the northern lights in winter with the deck lights off.

Exclusive use of the camp is included in every tier, with a host on site throughout your stay. The lounge has a Jura coffee machine, a Sonos sound system, and a safe, and two outdoor fireplaces add warmth on cool evenings.
