Holaskogur is a deforested area (despite the name, 'skogur'='forrest') in Gjupverjaafrettur in the mid highlands of Iceland.
Holaskogur has excellent modern accommodations and is thus popular with travellers. When farmers would gather their sheep from the mountains in the autumn, they'd stay in huts on their way and the oldest of these is found at Holaskogur, rebuilt in 1994.
