Located on the east coast of Eyjafjörður and directly off the Ring Road, it is just a twenty-minute drive from the town of Akureyri. Like most little Icelandic villages, it has services for travellers passing through. It also has a geothermal swimming pool which is open throughout summer.
There are guesthouses and cottages in and around the village for travellers to the North who would rather stay closer to nature. Its location makes it easy to visit popular attractions such as the Lake Mývatn region and the whale-watching capital of Europe, Húsavík.
