Be on the lookout for puffins and whales on this wildlife boat tour in the North Atlantic Ocean, where you'll hop onboard an old traditional oak boat for a boat ride in Skjálfandi Bay, by the charming town of Húsavík in north Iceland.
Húsavík is known as the whale watching capital of Iceland, so there's no better place for you to go searching for these giant mammals of the sea. As an added bonus, you can admire the black and white Atlantic puffins with their colourful beaks, as you'll also be making a short visit to the Puffin Island.
In spring and in summertime this small offshore island becomes the habitat of more than 200,000 puffins as they breed in large colonies. The first puffins arrive in April, but by the end of August, they return back out to the open sea.
These beautiful birds are surprisingly friendly and unafraid of human visitors, meaning you can venture up close, seeing these adorable creatures with your own two eyes.
After your visit to the Puffin Island, you'll go on the search for the whales. Skjálfandi bay is a place of many whale species. The most common visitor is the playful Humpback whale but of course, we'll be on the lookout for all types of whales, including Orcas, Fin whales, Northern Bottlenose whales, Sei whales and even Blue whales.
White-beaked dolphins and Harbour porpoises might also want to make an appearance. The whales mostly come into the bay for feeding due to the bounties of the water.
In Skjálfandi bay your guides will try our best to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. You can also enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and other light refreshments onboard, making for a rewarding outdoor experience in the land of ice and fire.
Experience the wildlife of the seas of north Iceland on this fantastic boat tour. Check availability by choosing a date.
