The beautiful midnight sun in Iceland

The sun sure knows how to put on a spectacle in Iceland! Last night the sunset/sunrise was incredibly beautiful. I went out to see a movie last night at 10pm. I went to see the Icelandic film Hrútar - or 'Rams' in English, a very Icelandic film about two old brothers that don't speak to each other and who love their sheep. The movie got an award at Cannes Film Festival recently - Un Certain Regard award - and I must say that I really enjoyed it! It's very funny and typically Icelandic, I think it's a very interesting film for foreigners to see! It's shown every day at Háskólabíó cin

Pablo Discobar: Reykjavík's Best Nightclub

What's Iceland's nightlife like? Wondering where to go for a great night out in Reykjavík? Do you want to go where the drinks are good, the crowd is cool and the dance floor is fun? Look no further than Pablo Discobar. Reykjavík's nightlife is notorious around the world. Although the drinks are expensive, you find people dancing the night away until 5am on weekends (Friday and Saturday nights), and go out for music, cocktails and even some dancing on weeknights until 1am. Although many tend to dress up for the nightlife in town (especially if they are single and looking to dress to impress

Romantic Glamping in Thorsmork in Iceland

Are you looking for a short romantic stay in Iceland? Perhaps you are coming over for a weekend, or a 3 day stopover with a loved one? If, like me, you can't think of anything more romantic than camping out in the wild nature, then my number one tip in Iceland is: Go glamping in the beautiful surroundings of Þórsmörk at the Volcano Huts. Every May I celebrate my relationship anniversary with my boyfriend. In 2018 we were going to spend this time in Iceland, and I wanted to do something extra special and memorable, and splurge on a memorable experience. What I wanted to do was to organise a

Sumac: Mediterranean Restaurant in Reykjavik

Where can you find quality Mediterranean food in Iceland? What are the best restaurants in Reykjavík? If you want quality Icelandic products but combined with African flavours, look no further than the fine dining restaurant Sumac. Personally, I'm a fan of spices and fruits, so anything containing mango, chillies, garlic, turmeric, nuts and dates is most likely going to appeal to me. I love the Icelandic lamb and fish, but I think those ingredients really shine when it's made a bit more exotic with foreign spices that tickle your tastebuds. So when I entered Sumac last week and went for th

Iceland May Be Out of the World Cup, But We're Still Proud!

Today, Iceland's dream to go through to the round of 16 in its first ever World Cup was shattered when Croatia won 2-1. Although the Icelandic nation is disappointed being so close to getting further, the overwhelming feeling is pride! In order for Iceland to qualify for the round of 16, not only did Iceland have to win Croatia, but Argentina and Nigeria either had to tie, or better yet, Argentina would have to beat Nigeria. Nigeria Beats Iceland in the World Cup 2-0

Iceland just played their second game at the World Cup, and lost 2-0 to Nigeria. But we're still hopeful for the next game against Croatia on Tuesday 26th of June!  After getting a 1-1 tie with Argentina in Iceland's first game at the world cup, the nation has been hopeful for a win against Nigeria and Croatia. Iceland has only once played against Nigeria before, which was way back in 1981 that was a 3-0 win for Iceland. Unfortunately, it was not to be in the match against Nigeria at the World Cup.  See Also: Iceland TIES with Argentina!!! Iceland's First Game in the World Cup, EVER! The

Rúrik Gíslason: An Overnight Success in More Than Football

Rúrik Gíslason is a professional football player that plays as a forward for the Icelandic national football team at the World Cup. And he's already been noticed, but not just for his football skills. Rúrik played his first World Cup match last Saturday, when Iceland tied against Argentina with the score 1:1. Icelanders celebrated like crazy, as Argentina is considered one of the strongest teams in the competition, and Argentinians were mostly furious. See Also: Iceland TIES with Argentina!!!
