Guesthouse Holmar is located almost halfway between the magnificent Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and dramatic Mount Vestrahorn, the last site of the South Coast sightseeing route and first site of the Eastfjords. It is just 40 minutes from the former and 30 from the latter. As such, guests travelling the Ring Road, which it sits on, will find it a perfect pitstop between these two regions.

The nearest town to Guesthouse Holmar is Hofn, just half-an-hour east. Not only is this a beautiful coastal settlement, but it has all services that a traveller could need such as groceries, gas and cultural attractions.

The guesthouse is located within view of the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajokull. This spectacular ice cap will form a mystical backdrop to those who wish to embark on one of the hiking routes in the area.

Facilities & Amenities

Guesthouse Holmar has two historic buildings in which it accommodates its guests. In the Old House, there are five rooms that can be furnished with either a double bed or two twin beds, and one room with a single bed. There is a shared kitchen, a bathroom on each floor, and a cosy living area with a television where you can relax.

In the Old Cowshed, there are three larger rooms that can be fitted to accommodate up to four; this building has two bathrooms.

Both the Old House and Old Cowshed have cosy furnishings and a welcoming decor, as well as wifi throughout all rooms.

Those staying at Guesthouse Holmar are welcome to meet the many animals on the farm around the hotel, and to enjoy breakfast each morning. There is also the Jon Riki restaurant on site, which serves local dishes and unique craft beers throughout summer.
