Natural Mineral Springs on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland

On the ever so popular Snæfellsnes peninsula in West Iceland, you will not only find breathtaking nature, waterfalls, volcanic craters, a glacier, beautiful mountains and rock formations, gorges, pink and black beaches, but also natural mineral springs. I love one in particular, where the water is very pure, tasty, and bubbly. It has the long name Rauðamelsölkelda. The Magical Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland - Part I

Let me take you on a tour of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland, one of my favourite places to visit. Snæfellsnes peninsula is a truly magical place with many interesting and beautiful sights. It is only a couple of hours' drive from Reykjavík, so I visit it often. I have created a 5-part travel blog series to show you the various stops on the peninsula. Top photo: Snæfellsjökull glacier in the background   The concert hall of the elves I will take you on a tour of the peninsula, coming from Reykjavík and driving on the south coast of Snæfellsnes. A lovely Boat Tour with Seatours on Breiðafjörður in West Iceland - the Viking Sushi Adventure

The Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland is a beautiful part of Iceland. Over the years, I have written detailed 5-part travel blogs about the peninsula in chronological order to make it easier for our foreign guests to visit this beautiful peninsula. I want to show you a tour I have joined three times, and that you should not miss when visiting Stykkishólmur, the capital of the magical Snæfellsnes peninsula! Unfortunately, this wonderful tour is no longer available, because the company changed ownership. Now, in April 2026, Seatours is again in the hands of the family that established it

Eyjafjallajökull Volcano and Þórsmörk in a Super Jeep - an Adventure in Iceland

I joined an excellent tour to the Eyjafjallajökull volcano and Þórsmörk, and rode in a super jeep for the first time in my life. This was the first guided tour I joined when I was starting to write for Guide to Iceland.      What attracted me to writing for Guide to Iceland was the opportunity to join guided tours in Iceland and write a travel blog about my experiences. Since then, I have written 320 travel blogs about Iceland :) We started early in the morning, and our first stop was at the beautiful waterfall Seljalandsfoss. Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon and Iceland's sparkling Ice Diamond Beach at Breiðamerkursandur

Jökulsárlón is a magnificent glacial lagoon in South Iceland, right by Ring Road 1. The glacial lagoon is one of Iceland's best-known natural wonders, its Crown Jewel. Visiting the lagoon is like entering a magical world, and I say "wow" every time I see the glacial lagoon, no matter how often I visit. Top photo: a boat tour on Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón belongs to the Vatnajökulsþjóðgarður - the Vatnajökull national park, and the lagoon and the Breiðamerkursandur outwash plains (sandurs) were preserved in the summer of 2017. Since 2019, Vatnajö

Svartifoss & other beautiful Attractions in Skaftafell in South-Iceland

In this travel blog, I want to show you the elegant Svartifoss waterfall - the Black Fall, a beautiful waterfall which cascades down into a heart-shaped gorge made of black and brown basalt columns. Svartifoss, the Black waterfall, is one of the unique waterfalls in SE-Iceland, tucked away in Skaftafell nature reserve, which has been part of Vatnajökull National Park since 2008. The beautiful Waterfalls of South Iceland; Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss & Gljúfrabúi and many more Waterfalls

I love the mesmerizing feeling of sitting by waterfalls and have to tear myself away. I am in luck, as Iceland has so many beautiful waterfalls that I visit often.  One of my favourite trips in my country is visiting the waterfalls in the south; the best-known are Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. In this travel blog, I want to show you my favourite waterfalls in South Iceland.
