Description

When visiting Iceland, you don't want to miss out on the chance to try some of the traditional Icelandic delicacies.

The tour begins at a cosy Gastropub, where you will be offered a small puffin appetiser to taste. This red meat is delicious, and the Gastropub always prepares it nicely. On the second stop, you can try our traditional Icelandic lamb soup. After you've warmed up from the hearty soup, head onwards to the third stop. Here you can try the relatively newly-famous Icelandic hot dog. Head on to the quirky Sægreifinn restaurant, where you can taste what has been declared by many food critics as the best lobster soup in the world. With a taste for fish in your mouth, you'll enjoy our fifth stop even more. Here you will be offered fresh Icelandic fish, newly brought in from the harbour in Reykjavik. Finally, finish this culinary experience with a delicious dessert made out of Skyr.  Skyr is a very popular dessert in Iceland and makes for a healthy way to round off a filling meal.

As you can see, it's a good idea to bring a healthy appetite.

Your guide will be an expert local who has been raised on these kinds of traditional Icelandic food, so they will be pleased to tell you more about the origins of the food and the importance of food to Icelandic people. This is a great tour to take at the start of your time in Reykjavik as you will get tips on where to eat, drink and have fun for the rest of your visit to Iceland. If you're only in the city for a short while, taking this tour will allow you to eat at some of the best eateries in Reykjavik.

You will also gain a proper orientation of the city centre of Reykjavik, and your guide will point out some interesting places to check out after the tour. The tour also promises to give you a peek into the culinary history of this young island nation.

The great thing about selecting to do our private Reykjavik food tour is that you can choose the starting time to fit around your other plans. The tour can start anytime between 11.30 am and 7 pm, depending on the availability of our guides. We recommend booking during the weekend because then you can visit a great food market in the City Centre that's fun to stroll through.

Check availability by choosing a date.
