Description

This private walking tour of Reykjavik will introduce you to Icelandic history, folklore and culture. Your guide will help you get your bearings and make the most of your stay in Iceland.  The great thing about doing a private tour is that you can choose the starting time and the sights can be personalised to your interests.

This family-friendly walking tour will visit all of the most famous landmarks in the city centre. Your expert local guide will bring the history of Iceland to life with exciting stories and Icelandic folklore. They will also share hidden, local spots with you, which you might not know about if you were walking around the city by yourself without knowing what to look for.

Meet us at Ingólfur Square by the two stone pillars. The artwork there is supposed to signify how Iceland was first found and settled. From there, you will walk to Fógetagarðurinn where your guide will continue the story about the first settler of Iceland, the Icelandic Sagas and the father of our capital city, Reykjavik. Our next stop is a stone where Icelandic Elves are rumoured to live. You will hear a little about the folklore of Iceland and how superstitious Icelanders are. Then you will walk towards the Reykjavik harbour, passing by Harpa Concert Hall, Arnarhóll and more. Head up the main shopping street, Laugavegur, and take in Hallgrímskirkja church in all it's glory. Then head down towards the Reykjavik Pond, passing Reykjavik City Hall and the Parliament where your guide will tell you about Icelandic politics, guardian spirits and maybe even about the pots and pans revolution. Finally, this tour will finish up at Ingólfur Square.

Your guide is committed to helping you to experience the unique, friendly atmosphere of our quirky little city, not just to see the most popular tourist attractions. Indeed, your guide will share their favourite places to eat, drink and have fun in Reykjavik.
