Te & Kaffi Reseguide

Te & Kaffi is one of the most iconic coffee houses in Iceland and a favorite among locals. They serve excellent quality coffee that they roast themselves, along with a great selection of loose-leaf teas, pastries, sandwiches, and more.

This family business was originally founded in 1984 when husband-and-wife duo Sigmundur Dýrfjörð and Berglind Guðbrandsdóttir took a chance at their dream of opening a specialty coffee shop. Since then, this small coffee shop has grown into the most popular coffee house chain in Iceland, with eight locations around the Capital Region.

From the start, the focus has been on serving great coffee and tea, hence the name "Tea and Coffee." They run their own roastery, and you can buy their products at all Te & Kaffi locations. Many of their most popular products are also available in major grocery stores around Iceland.

Along with the classics such as espressos, cappuccinos, and lattes, there are plenty of specialty drinks on the Te & Kaffi menu. The salt caramel mocha is amazing, and they have a gingerbread latte available year-round. If you want to try something different, they also serve a licorice cappuccino that's delicious.

For cold coffee lovers, their iced latte is served with a syrup of your choice, and the caramel frappe is truly a special treat. There are also many tea-based drink options, and for matcha lovers, we recommend trying the mint matcha latte.

To change things up, they have a seasonal selection of drinks, generally with fresh, fun options for the summer, rich, spiced drinks for the fall, amazing creative options for Christmas, and delicious, candy-themed ones around Easter.

To go with your delicious drink of choice, there are many options. If you're hungry, try the tasty sandwiches, or go for our favorite, the grilled croissant with avocado and jalapeno cheese.

If you're craving something sweet, you won't be disappointed! Enjoy a classic cinnamon bun, a muffin, or a slice of cake, of which we highly recommend the French chocolate cake! It's rich in chocolate, sprinkled with salted nuts, and served with whipped cream, pairing perfectly with a cup of coffee.
