Iceland Day Trips

Thor was extremely personable and helpful from the initial point of contact. We spoke on the phone and exchanged plenty of emails regarding our expectations for the private tour of Golden Circle and Southern region of Iceland. Not once did I feel rushed or forced to make a decision and even when I was facing issues with payment, Thor was immensely patient and thoughtful to support me in solving the issue. Days before departure, I was also given information about the weather in Iceland to help me prepare better. We're a family of 5 adults and Thor arranged for Hugi to be our guide for the tour. It was obvious very early on that he enjoys what he does and that the trip from that point on was going to be very interesting. A private tour gave us (or Hugi mostly, as we gave him complete freedom to do what he does best) the opportunity to shuffle the itinerary according to time/weather and chance encounters. For example, we took an unscheduled detour to greet some Icelandic horses that were grazing in a very picturesque area. Hugi made sure we were cozy and entertained (with live music at one point) throughout the trip and he quickly became more friend than just a guide. He possesses a wealth of knowledge, always eager to share information on Iceland, its history, culture and stories. We were glad we listened to Thor's recommendation of a cottage with a hot tub as that was a surreal experience sitting outside in the tub, looking up at a sky full of stars and northern lights, surrounded by a snowy landscape. Towards the end of the trip, Thor called and personally made sure we were alright and having a great time. When we had to unexpectedly change the final item on our agenda, he did not hesitate and immediately supported in making sure we had all the right resources to ensure our comfort. We had a fantastic trip and thanks to this great experience, we are already planning to come back to Iceland and will definitely engage Thor and his brilliant team to help us plan more great Icelandic adventures!

We traveled in Mid October with two senior citizens, two 30 year olds and one four year old. First, the planning process through this website and via our Guide Thor was awesome. The trip was fully customized to our preferences and the itinerary was perfect! I had millions of questions prior to the trip and Thor had incredible tips and was always quick to respond. From what to pack, to where to eat and what times to book entrances to blue lagoon etc. he was amazing. Once we arrived, his associate Harpa took amazing care of us for the first day. We stopped at amazing bakery, saw hot springs, light houses, beautiful lava fields and ventured into the Geysir area. Harpa took us to a fantastic place for Ice Cream and Fish & Chips. Thor & Harpa were very attentive to our needs and adjusted schedules based on weather and our 4 year old son. Their knowledge of the country was boundless and had amazing details and stories to add. The tour did not end when they dropped us in the city. Thor would send us tips each evening for Northern Lights hunting (we saw them 3/4 nights!) and places to eat, and other things to do in town. On the tour, they knew how to avoid the busy/crowded times and alerted us of tourist traps. Bravo and would 100% re-book with this team!

On the whole we had a great experience. Before out trip together with our guide we made a great and full 3 day plan however my 16 year old daughter broke her leg on the first day so some of what we planned was'nt appropriate for us in the end and we were slightly restricted . The guide was very professional and caring, & had a wealth of knowledge about anything to do with iceland. The house that came with the package deal was a nice addition though very remote. For my family and myself the 3 day tour was as good as it could have been given our situation and i would recommend it to others.

Five Stars! This was an excellent private tour for our family of four adults. Our guide was outstanding. From the moment he picked us up from our hotel until he dropped us off the following evening we enjoyed a stress free guided tour of the sites, culture, and history of your country. The cabin/cottage where we spent the night to look for the Northern Lights was perfect; it was way out in the country and we had all night for the lights to make an appearance. Our tour was in February. The sky cleared for a while and we spent a magical twenty minutes with the green and yellow hues of the lights and more stars than we'd ever seen before. This is the way to see the lights and the sites. Plenty of time, no schedule to keep, a flexible personable guide, and no stress. We could just enjoy our adventure together. It just doesn't get any better than this. And the cost is better than if you book a south coast tour, a golden circle tour, and an all night opportunity to see the lights. Five stars from my family in Virginia, USA!
