Hello 2013. Please Be Kind
The wonderful people behind this site have decided to donate 20 ISK to charity for every Like they get on Facebook. I think it's a wonderful way to go about a necessary but annoying thing. Advertising and marketing pretty much make me wanna throw up. I also hate money. It ruins everything. That might explain my perpetual lack of funding. I also love beautiful and good things. This little contradiction pretty much sums up my inner struggle in life. But I'm straying off topic. Right. What a sweet way of collecting likes. Apparently, the kids playroom in the hospital had to be closed on Sundays due to lack of funding. Hopefully the money will be enough to keep it open every day of the week. I spent quite some time in the hospital when I was a kid and this makes my heart smile.
I haven't been out much during the holidays so there's not much touristy to say, So I will give you my weather report. (If you find yourself with an Icelandic person and you need a conversation starter, talk about the weather, it gets us every time.)The wind was insane for a few days after Christmas, then it got freezing, then it snowed a bit. Then it got even colder and then yesterday it snowed a lot. At midnight the roads were covered in snow, even downtown where I live and huge flakes of snow just kept falling and falling. Now it's morning. I just woke up, all the snow is gone and it's raining. Completely schizo. So if you're traveling to Iceland during the winter, wear everything you own.
Happy New Year!
