FILM IN ICELAND

For the past years Iceland has become an interesting place to film movies and TV-shows. The extreme landscape and extraordinary nature plays a big role when choosing a location for filming. 20% rebate available Iceland offers a reimbursement of 20 percent of the costs incurred during the production of films and television programs in Iceland. For all of you interesting to make a movie in Iceland you can contact Iceland's Official Film Commission.  The most recent film that was filmed here in Iceland is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty directed by Ben Stiller and is in cinemas now. Seyðisfjörður - the most beautiful place in Iceland

This weekend I went to Seyðisfjörður. It´s a small town on the east side of the country and the population there is about 750 inhabitants. Seyðisfjörður is special to me and is the most beautiful place in Iceland. If you have the opportunity to visit this amazing town do not hesitate going there.   You will see and experience:   Beautiful nature. Lovely people. Great food. Amazing art work. Calm and easy atmosphere. Great historical houses. See more about Seyðisfjörður   And if you go there between the 14th of July and 21st of July 2013 you will experience LungA art festival. Where

Sushi Samba - my favorite!

The other night I went out with my friends. We all love sushi and therefore it's a very easy choice when selecting a restaurant. Sushi Samba is always number one on my list. By far my favorite place for so many reasons.  The design of the place is very trendy. Incredibly comfortable atmosphere and a certain experience coming there. I could say so much about the food, it is first class. All the details are in place and the owners make a priority of first-class raw materials and quality. The food is served in a fun way. The best thing about Sushi Samba are the employees. So friendly, nice and

Sex and the Reykjavík City..almost! What to do during the day!

When you come to Iceland there is a lot to see and do. You can travel around the country and be amazed by our island. You can do all the wildest things you probably have never done before and it´s all worth it.  In this blog I want to describe to you my perfect day in the city.  When the sun comes up  Because during the summer time there is always bright outside you probably will wake up early in the morning. The first thing that comes to mind is a good coffee!    Go to:  Kaffitár on Laugavegur Te og Kaffi on Laugavegur Or enjoy the old fashioned Mokka Kaffi on Skólavörðustígur.  W

My special place in Iceland

We all have this special place where we can go and think about life. This place is very important for many various of reasons. In my case I go there to rethink issues in my life to get another aspect of things going wrong. My heart heals when I go there. My vision in life gets clearer and I feel more effective to come across any barriers in life.  My special place is Garðskagi in Garður, -  which is the outermost point of the Miðnes peninsula. There you can find a beautiful landscape, two lighthouses and amazing view towards the sea. If you go someday - there is a museum there  with man

The traditional Bun Day in Iceland - Bolludagur

Today is the traditional Bolludagur (e. Bun Day) in Iceland. It´s a Christian tradition and is seven weeks before Easter. It´s originally a tradition from Denmark in the 19th century. My mother baked these cream-filled buns yesterday and I believe that most of Icelanders will eat many buns today. I decided that I´m only going to eat two cream-filled buns today but please do not hold me to it. I will probably eat ten! If you want to bake cream-filled buns yourself here is a recipe online: Cream-filled Buns recipe Try it! With love, Eyjó

Eurovision mania in Iceland

When it comes to competing – we always want to win. That´s the spirit we have here in Iceland. Last weekend we voted our winners song that is going to compete in Malmö, Sweden in May. Eurovision is a song competition where participants are from Europe. Each member country submits a song to be performed on live television and radio and then casts votes for the other countries' songs to determine the most popular song in the competition. Iceland has never won, but two times in second place.      The Icelandic show was broadcasted live from Harpa concert hall and half of the nation

The "Gay Scene" in Iceland

There is something you need to know about clubbing in Iceland, we are out of control.  It´s a normal thing to go downtown clubbing around 01:00 am. With that written of course we stay out until the morning sun arrives. In Iceland we have one gay club, Kiki. I'´m going to be honest with you, it´'s not like clubs in New York, Barcelona or in London. Far from it. But it´s an effort.  Because of our great tolerance every club in Iceland is gay friendly. That´s why  we all can dance in clubs, with whomever we want and do not have to worry about if we will get punched in the face by one big m

I love traveling, as all of you do – so I spent my last days of the year 2012 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The most important thing about celebrating the old year, is to spend it with a group of people that you love and can have a great time with. That´s what I did. I hope all of you had a fun time last night. Happy New Year 2013. I really hope your dreams come true this year.   With love from Gothenburg, Eyjó
