The Hreppslaug swimming pool is a naturally-heated pool in West Iceland, which provides a space for fun and relaxation for locals and visitors alike.

The Hreppslaug pool is a local attraction and not necessarily a tourist destination. Therefore, it's not a typical tour stop and is usually uncrowded. Mark the pool as a stop on your self-drive tour of West Iceland for an afternoon of relaxation.

Swimming pools like Hreppslaug are an integral part of Icelandic culture and are regarded as more than just a place to swim. They're an excellent place to live like a local and immerse yourself in the community. Take the opportunity to enjoy some rejuvenation in an authentic setting by visiting the Hreppslaug pool.

About the Hreppslaug Swimming Pool

The Hreppslaug pool is preserved as a cultural heritage location in West Iceland. It was built in 1928 and is now run by the non-profit youth organization Islendingur.

The Hreppslaug pool is near the town of Borgarnes. Its location provides sweeping views of the surrounding landscape of rivers and distant towering mountains.

There are three pools at Hreppslaug; two small hot tubs and one large pool. All three are made of concrete, with steps into the pool for easy access.

The water at the Hreppslaug pool comes directly from a nearby hot spring, ensuring a relaxing experience in comfortably warm waters.

You can bathe in the Hreppslaug pool year-round. The opening hours change depending on the season and day of the week, so it is best to check the Hreppslaug social media pages or call ahead before you go. It is typically closed on Mondays and may have shortened hours outside of the summer months.
