The Settlement Center in Borgarnes is the ideal stop for travelers both self drive and groups. The Center consists of two saga exhibits, one on the Settlement of Iceland around 874 and the other tells the synopsis of Egils Saga, one of Icelands best known Icelandic Sagas. Egill was a Viking hero and poet and his Saga takes place in Borgarnes and the surroundings. We also provide our guest with a guided tour in Smart phones that can be downloaded free at the Center. The restaurant has a variety of local food, cakes and coffee and the healthy lunch buffet has been a great success. The Settlement Center is open daily all year from 10 am - 9 pm, except for Christmas and New Year when opening hours are limited. Please check of times of opening. We open outside of these hours if prebooked.
