Day 18 of 3 week Iceland trip, F 26 Sprengisandur

Day 18 in Iceland: From Árnes to Nýidalur (218km)
A beautiful day again, a perfect day for the F26 to Nýidalur.
I decided to top up Diesel and start with a full tank. We had no spare diesel tank.
At Hrauneyjalón diesel was out. I left it at that we had only driven approximately 70km since I last filled. This proved to be a risky choice, at 40 km before the next fuel station at Reykjahlið the diesel warning light came on, I just managed to reach the fuel station.
From Hrauneyjalón we first drove to the Dynkur, the waterfall was difficult to find and the 4x4 had to work hard. There was hardly any trace of a track. The waterfall was the best on Iceland and only for us.
On the way back we followed a track that was supposed to bring us to the F26. Well supposed, the Icelanders had built a weir and the track went strait into the new reservoir. We found another track that brought us to the new weir. Driving across was a scary experience. It was a high dam with a narrow lose gravel path on top.
We continued driving on the F26. This was real 4x4 county, no rented Dacia Dusters anymore.
At Nýidalur we camped.
