Laugarvatn Fontana

Vladimir was super informative about the area amd the people that live there including the history of how this tradition began. The experience was awesome! We walked from the spa down to the water, saw the volcano in the background, and got to dig up the bread and come back up to eat it. It was sweeter than I thought and the local smoked trout was a nice touch! Highly recommend and it was a short side quest that didn't take much time away from other excursions.

Amazing! Being next to the lake… wow… honestly, having done several geothermal pools in Iceland, I would recommend this one on the golden circle, and Blue Lagoon obviously. However, I was surprised that I enjoyed Laugarvatn Fontana the most. Do yourself a favor and relax here.

We ate the best bread of the whole holiday, accompanied by the freshest butter and trout. Too bad not to have a geothermal pool to make it up at home.
