North Ice

We had a great experience with North Ice, the company that led our glacier hike tour! The guides were very knowledgable, and it was clear that their first priority was our safety and making sure we had a good experience. We also appreciated how Guide to Iceland offers so many different great tour options in one easy-to-use interface. The only negative was that the information about this tour provided on the Guide to Iceland website lacked certain details about that trip that would have been really helpful to us. These include specific directions to bring food and water (though we assumed we'd need to), and the meet-up location. The website made it seem like the tour included a pick-up from Reykjavik, while in reality, it was only after following up with Guide to Iceland support that we learned we needed to meet the tour in Arnarstapi. As a result of this, we ended up needing to pay more money to book an alternate hotel for the night after the hike. We would encourage Guide to Iceland to update their website to ensure others don't experience the same confusion.

We had such a great day on snæfellsjökull with our guide Bergur! The wind was more than forecast and my teenager was moving pretty slow so we didn’t summit (our guide made a good call to head back down) — but getting up is optional, getting down is mandatory, we weren’t at all disappointed. We enjoyed our conversation about volcanoes and glaciers, and the silver lining about the wind was it blew the clouds away and we had beautiful views of the whole area. I’d recommend north ice to anyone. You guys are fantastic and we thank you for an experience we’ll remember forever!!

Tour guide was amazing, happy to answer all our annoying questions. 1 of our group was scared of heights and he made sure to set climbs we could all do.For a private group tour, the price was alot cheaper than other alternatives. If your a climber, you gotta do this while your in Iceland !

I was in Iceland for a month and this was one of the best things I did! I was lucky to have it as a private tour and the mountain was almost completely void of other hikers. Expect a variable and early morning start ~1am. The times listed on Guide to Iceland for the start are not accurate. This trip definitely takes more than a single day. Expect one day of travelling to arrive at Skaftafell and one day to recover and catch up on lost sleep. I would definitely recommend this trip to everyone!
