We had a really positive experience renting our car through Guide to Iceland. The whole process was quick and easy, both online and at the airport desk.
Their customer support was excellent. They reply very quickly via chat and can assist you in your own language as well as in English. I initially made a mistake and booked the car starting from the wrong date, but they immediately helped me cancel the booking and issued a full refund straight away (thank you again for your help!! ♡).
They were also extremely helpful whenever something on the voucher wasn't completely clear. They took the time to look into it and explain everything properly, and all the information they gave us matched exactly what we were later told at the airport rental desk.
We rented a Dacia Duster and found it very comfortable and a great 4x4 for travelling around Iceland. We also purchased all the available coverage, which gave us extra peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy the trip without worrying about the car.
Our rental company was Geysir/Avis, and another thing we really appreciated was being able to submit our own photos of any existing damage when picking up the car. It's a simple but very useful way to document the condition of the vehicle and avoid any misunderstandings when returning it.
The only thing that wasn't completely clear beforehand was the additional mileage charge introduced under Icelandic regulations in January 2025. On top of the rental price, there is a charge of approximately €0.07 per kilometre driven, which is calculated when you return the vehicle. However, this was clearly explained to us at the desk and was also stated in the rental agreement.
Overall, we had a great experience and would happily use the service again!
Geysir car rental has great price on the SUV. I did have some concerns before I go as I saw mixed reviews. However it turns out to be an very positive experience. My flight was late and when I landed they were at the airport waiting for me. They drove me to their office and even offered me a popular Iceland drink. It was 1am. The paper work is quick. The car I booked was Nissan quashibai. It run put and I got an upgrade to suzuki grand vitara. Then we went out to check the car. As it was dark outside, they told me to take a photo and email them if I find something. I did find a small crack on the windshield. When I return the car there was no issues at all.and they came to office at 4am. My flight was an early one.So it was a great great experience and I won't hesitate to recommend them at all!
