The South Central Apartment sits just by the Brautarholt campsite, just south of the minuscule hamlet of Olafsvellir. While you can find a gas station at this location, there are few other signs of civilization for miles around; the nearest towns where you can find groceries, a choice of restaurants, and other services are Selfoss and Hella, both of which take just over 20 minutes to drive to.

This means the apartment is surrounded by gorgeous, uninterrupted landscapes, with views over features such as Hekla volcano and the mountains of the Highlands.

Despite its lovely, rural location, it is still easy to use the flat as a base from which to explore the incredible attractions of the region. The Golden Circle sightseeing route, which boasts Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss Waterfall, can be reached in just 35 minutes. Seljalandsfoss waterfall, the first site of the South Coast sightseeing route, meanwhile, is only 50 minutes away.

You can also access lesser-known gems with ease; the Secret Lagoon in Fludir is just 15 minutes away, whereas Kerid crater lake and the Solheimar ecovillage can be reached in half an hour.
