Holaskjol: Cabin 2 enjoys a peaceful location in Lamskardsholar, surrounded by Icelandic nature. The accommodation is situated by an old lava field created during the eruption of Eldgja from around 934 to 940 AD.

A short walk up the lava field will take you to a beautiful waterfall. The waterfall doesn’t have an official name, but many call it Silfurfoss or Litli-Gullfoss. If you want to go further afield, there are many other hiking trails in the area for you to explore on foot.

If you prefer cycling, you’ll also find trails here suitable for bicycles.

Around 3.4 miles from the cabin (5.5 kilometers), you’ll find Eldgja volcanic canyon, the largest in the world. It is about 25 miles (40 kilometers) long and is approximately 1,969 feet (600 meters wide) at its widest point.

At Eldgja, you’ll find Ofaerufoss, a two-stream waterfall that flows from the river Ofaera. You can hike to this waterfall. You can also visit the Lakagigar craters, formed in an eruption in 1783. There are 25 dramatic craters in a row surrounded by lava.
