Description

Lovers of adventure and the great outdoors will want to make Klettasel Villa their base for exploring everything that Southeast Iceland has to offer. Possibly the most uniquely-designed building in Iceland, Klettasel is made using traditional Icelandic materials and is perfect for relaxing after a day packed with activities.

Location & Nearby

Klettasel Villa is located in the small village of Hof, in Southeast Iceland, close to the Vatnajokull National Park. The glacier of the same name is the second largest in Europe and covers eight percent of Iceland’s landmass.

If you’re adventurous, you’ll find lots to do here. Try your hand at glacier hiking, hop on a boat tour or go ice caving. Vatnajokull also has the tallest peak in Iceland, Hvannadalshnjukur. The mountain stands at 7,218 feet (2,200 meters) above sea level.

Some of the most active volcanoes in the country can also be found here, including Grimsvotn, Bardarbunga, and Oraefajokull.

Hnappavellir, Iceland’s most popular hiking area, is approximately 3.1 miles (5 kilometers) away from Klettasel. These vertical cliffs tower over grassy meadows and offer over one hundred routes for climbers to choose from.

Also nearby is Skaftafell, around 11.8 miles (19 kilometers) away. Skaftafell is home to a wide selection of hiking trails, taking you to some fantastic sights, including the Svartifoss waterfall and the Skaftafellsjokull glacier.

The Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon is 24 miles (38.6 kilometers) east.
