The Ormurinn Cottages line the edge of Lake Lagarfljot, a lake steeped in fascinating folklore. On the other side of it, just seven minutes’ drive away, is the capital of east Iceland, Egilsstadir. Here, you can stock up on groceries and find a wealth of other services, and explore attractions such as Hallormstadaskogar, the country’s largest forest.

The cottages are also just a 40-minute walk from a serene geothermal spa, the Vok Baths.
