Location & Nearby
Guesthouse Fludir, as its name suggests, is located just south of the village of Fludir, which is renowned for its rural beauty and geothermal activity. In particular, it is famous for being home to the country’s oldest swimming pool, the Secret Lagoon, a mystical attraction that sits by a hot spring area and geyser. It can be walked to in just 15 minutes from the guesthouse.
For more dramatic geysers, one only needs to drive 20 minutes and they will come to Strokkur, a geothermal marvel that erupts regularly to great heights. This is one of three sites on the Golden Circle; the other two, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir National Park, take half an hour and an hour to reach from Fludir respectively.
