Description

Snorrastadir is a historic, family-run farm in west Iceland with five cosy cabins you can book and a two-storey house where you can rent a bunk bed. Anyone looking to explore this region and the Snaefellsnes Peninsula from authentic, traditional accommodation steeped in local culture should look no further.

Location & Nearby

Snorrastadir is remotely located in the verdant coastal farmland of west Iceland, just south of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. This makes it a fantastic base from which to explore both beautiful regions and to look out for the Northern Lights in winter.

West Iceland is famed for being home to the ‘twin’ waterfalls of Barnafoss and Hraunfossar, the hot spring of Deildartunghver, the geothermal spa of Krauma, and the historic villages Reykholt and Borgarnes, all of which are within an hour and a half’s drive.

Snaefellsnes, meanwhile, is nicknamed Iceland in Miniature due to its unbelievable display of attractions; it boasts the Snaefellsjokull glacier and national park, Kirkjufell mountain, the Ytri Tunga seal-watching beach, and the Londrangar sea stacks, amongst many other sites.

The nearest settlement with reliable amenities is Borgarnes, which takes twenty minutes to drive to.

Facilities & Amenities

Snorrastadir has a range of accommodation options for travellers of all different tastes, budgets and sizes, from bunk beds to ten-person cabins.

The bunk beds can be found in the two-storey White House; its upper floor, it has six rooms - two for up to five people, three for up to four people, and one for two. There is also a lounge here and three bathrooms, two of which have showers.

On the ground floor there are two halls, one of which can seat about 40 people and one of which can host around 150, as well as all cooking facilities. As such, this accommodation is a great choice if you are planning a large event such as a wedding or family reunion.

The ten-person cabin, meanwhile, covers 100 square metres, and has four bedrooms; some of these are double rooms, and some come with bunk beds. There is also a fully furnished kitchen and two bathrooms.

If this space is too large, there are four more cabins for up to five guests; these cover 45 square metres and have two bedrooms, both of which have double beds but one of which has an additional upper bunk. They also have kitchens, and a bathroom in each.

All five of the cabins have geothermally heated hot tubs and charcoal grills on their sundecks. Free Wifi is available throughout the building.

Why Choose Snorrastadir?

Snorrastadir is a fantastic choice for guests seeking authentic, rural accommodation, from which they can explore the incredible regions of west Iceland and the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Check out the dates and book your stay!
