Visit the Golden Circle sights and relax at the Secret Lagoon on this private tour from Reykjavik by super jeep, monster truck, or luxury SUV.
You choose your vehicle when you book. The super jeep and monster truck go off-road, while the luxury SUV stays on the roads and gives you easier access and more comfort.
You're picked up at your accommodation in the capital area. The first stop is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Iceland's parliament was founded over 1,000 years ago. Here, you can see how the earth is slowly pulling apart between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.
Next, you visit the Geysir Geothermal Area in Haukadalur Valley, with geysers, hot springs, steam vents, and blue algae. Strokkur Geyser, one of the largest and most powerful geysers, erupts every 4 to 16 minutes.
The last stop on the Golden Circle is Gullfoss Waterfall, which drops in two stages into a deep gorge. You then have a lunch break at the Gullfoss cafe.
In a super jeep or monster truck, you then head off-road into the rough terrain of the highlands around Langjokull Glacier, the second-largest ice cap in Iceland, at 323 square miles (836 square kilometers). You stop now and then to take in the landscape along the way.
After the off-road ride, you visit Faxi Waterfall, a small waterfall on the Tungufljot River.
Finally, you relax at the Secret Lagoon, a natural hot spring in the small village of Fludir. It's the oldest swimming pool in Iceland, built in 1891, and its water stays at 100 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit (38 to 40 degrees Celsius) all year. A small geyser erupts right beside the pool.
You can also add snowmobiling on Langjokull Glacier for an extra fee, subject to the weather.
