What could be more Icelandic than hiking up the country's biggest ice cap?
The ice wall may be intimidating at first; fear not, the guide will have an excellent hold of the rope, ensuring you won't fall!
The ice on glaciers will take a huge variety of colours, from deep shades of blue to pure white.

Join this challenging and adventurous day-tour climbing the glistening ice sheet of Falljökull, an outlet glacier of Iceland’s largest ice cap Vatnajökull. If you want to experience the majesty of Skaftafell National Park from the best possible viewpoint, this glacier hiking excursion with a small group is your perfect choice.

Your adventure begins as you meet up with your glacier guides on the parking lot of Skaftafell National Park, a stunning area surrounded by magnificent mountains and crawling glacier tongues. There, you will get a safety briefing and all the provisions needed to trek up an ice sheet, including crampons for trekking and axes for latching.

Then, it’s time to lace up your hiking boots and begin your ascent up the rugged surface of outlet glacier Falljökull, a world of white streaked with black streaks of volcanic ash. An ice cap is a living thing in constant development, and there might be no better way to grasp the power of this natural marvel than by feeling it directly beneath your feet.

Know that you will be accompanied and instructed by experienced and knowledgeable guides, but a glacier can never be mounted without someone who knows the route between the gorges and crevasses of this jeopardous but stunning environment.

For those daredevils wanting to go the extra mile, you can combine the glacier hiking with ice climbing, where you rope your way up vertical ice walls during an exhilarating experience, armed with sharp ice axes, bringing your Icelandic adventure to whole new levels.

Don’t wait any longer in securing your spot on this icy adventure up the outlet slopes of Vatnajökull Glacier, small group experience guaranteed. Book this tour now and get to know the ice of Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
