Golden Circle & Secret Lagoon | English Tour Guide & Audio Guide in 10 Languages
The Secret Lagoon is smaller, but less busy, than the not-so-secret Blue Lagoon.
The Geysir Geothermal Area is in a valley called Haukadalur.
Be careful not to stand in the direction of the wind when watching Strokkur geyser erupt; you will get wet!
The Golden Circle consists of Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss (pictured).
Iceland's rivers are murky as they come from the glaciers, which freeze sediment over winter and release it in spring.
Be careful at the Geysir Geothermal Area, as the water all over is scalding hot.

Combine sightseeing around the Golden Circle with hot spring bathing in the Secret Lagoon. This excellent day tour of essential Icelandic experiences can be conducted in one of ten languages.

Your tour starts at Reykjavík Terminal where you will meet up with your guide, or with a hotel pick up if you have chosen to be picked up from your accommodation. From Reykjavík Terminal we head out in the morning in a state-of-the-art bus; every passenger will get a tablet, a USB charger, access to Wifi, and an audio guide with which they can listen to commentary in one of ten languages (just be sure to bring your own earphones).

You will then set off to see Iceland’s three most famous sites, all along the Golden Circle. The first of these is Þingvellir National Park. It has its National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site status from its history; it was here that in 930 AD Icelanders founded a democratic assembly that would outlive every other, continuing today.

Þingvellir is also known for its geology. It sits directly between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, in the Mid-Atlantic Rift, and the tension between them tears open fissures throughout the landscapes, filled with crystal-clear spring water.

After Þingvellir, you will reach the Geysir Geothermal Area. This is home to many hot-springs and fumaroles, sat amongst brightly coloured earth, as well as two geysers. Geysir itself - after which all others are named - has been largely inactive in recent decades, but Strokkur still erupts water to heights that have been known to exceed forty metres.

While Geysir only used to go off a few times a day, Strokkur does so approximately every five minutes.

Gullfoss waterfall is the final site of the Golden Circle. A majestic feature, it is over thirty metres tall and awe-inspiringly powerful. You can admire it from many angles, including (in summer) one that sits right next to the cascade.

After enjoying all of these sites, and having lunch at either Gullfoss or Geysir’s cafe, you’ll head off to ease any tension from your day away in the Secret Lagoon in Fluðir.

This beautiful pool sits next to a seething geothermal area which feeds into it, complete with a miniature geyser you can watch erupt regularly. Its serene location, warmth and beauty make it perfect for bathing, rejuvenating mind, body and soul.

After an exciting day and relaxing evening, you’ll return to Reykjavík.

Great experience in general. Our guide gave us tips of iceland and lot of jokes, specific stories from icelandic folk tales were interesting. Each stop, we had quite enough time to look around. In a secret lagoon we had about 2.5hours, not busy/crowded.

The tour was great, the guide was really nice. He gave us a lot of fun facts and told us about Iceland history and some traditions. It was a long day but it was really nice and relaxing to finish it with the secret lagoon :)

Initially there was a change to the schedule that we didn't know about until we had missed it :( . However the company were very good at finding an alternative, where unfortunately we missed the Secret Lagoon, but still had a great tour of the Golden Circle. Our Guide Eta was excellent - very friendly and informative, and for our first albeit brief visit to Iceland it was impressive. Loved the place and we were extremely lucky with the weather. Icelandic weather has to be taken as it comes and be prepared for anything. We were lucky and blessed with clear skies and sunshine all day so were able to get out and see everything very well. Recommend the Golden Circle as a must for your first visit to Iceland. You see the geysers, waterfalls and perhaps most impressive the Thingvellir national park with the mid-Atlantic fault separating Eurasia and America. Beautiful tour through the unique Icelandic landscape too

The tour change the time 16hrs prior to pick up time and of course it was our second day in Iceland and we were on another excursion the 1st day so wasn't glued to email. In the morning we waited for our pick up and when something seemed a little strange we asked the Reykjavik Siteseeing Golden Circle Driver about the pick up for our tour. When he stated we were a no show we showed our tour voucher. He called back and they stated they had cancelled that tour and new tour was an hour and half earlier pick up. We didn't know and they were able to put us one the next Golden Circle Classic tour and instead of the hot springs we were able to go on the Norhter lights tour. The Golden Circle Classic tour was very nice, Daniel was our tour guide and was full of facts and very lightly comical so made for a great time. I will put a review on the classic and the nothern lights for the correct tour as we didn't actually go on this one.
