Ice Caving Tour From Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Ice Caving Tour From Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon
Ice caving is, without doubt, one of the more authentic experiences that visitors can partake in whilst in Iceland.
You are bound to be amazed by the staggering shades of blue you uncover in the ice cave.
Ice caving requires only a few items of specialist equipment, including crampons, a helmet and a torch.
Ice caving is only available during the winter months in Iceland. Summer time sees the ice caves filling with water, thus quickly becoming inaccessible.
It's an almost impossible thing to imagine, looking up at the underside of a glacier... and yet, this is what ice caving provides its participants.
Throughout the tour experience, you will be led by a knowledgeable, friendly and experienced ice caving guide.

This tour meets at Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon car park, roughly 370 km away from Iceland’s capital city, Reykjavík. Upon arrival, you will quickly discover just why this glacial lagoon is widely regarded as one of Iceland’s most beautiful natural features; enormous icebergs float peacefully on the lagoon’s still surface, disturbed only by the playful splashing of the lagoons resident seals, and surrounded by an incredible ring of mountains, glaciers and gnarled hillsides.

From the lagoon's carpark, you'll board a vehicle and be driven on one of Iceland’s wild back roads to reach the edge of the outlet glacier. Once there, gear and safety instructions will be provided, as well as a short lesson on the area’s history, culture and fascinating geology. Amongst the necessary gear, you will be using is a helmet, head torch and crampons.

Then you'll get to marvel at the incredible scenery inside the glacier; the electric blue ice walls and the sheer and sparkling ice sculptures found inside. After exploring the cave for a while, snapping a few photos in the process, you'll head back to the vehicle and return to the glacier lagoon.
