This tour shouldn’t be missed by anyone wanting to experience the best of Icelandic nature while travelling in comfort and style.

Landmannalaugar is a vast area of unique beauty, located in the heart of Iceland’s southern highlands. Nestled between the jet-black Laugahraun lava field, Landmannalaugar is made up of windswept rhyolite mountains, a type of volcanic rock that creates a full spectrum of dazzling colour on the mountainside.

Your adventure starts in Reykjavík, where you will be picked up in the morning by a super jeep. This large and luxurious vehicle is specially built to go off the beaten track, to areas not accessible by normal buses, so you will get an exclusive and unique experience as you traverse the highlands of Iceland.

Your first stop of the day will be in Þjórsárdalur valley where you find Hjálparfoss waterfall. Situated in the lava field north of the stratovolcano Hekla, this is a twin cascade where two streams from the river Fossá, merge in the basin of the waterfall.

Travelling from the beautiful waterfall, you’ll stop at two scenic lakes before you reach Landmannalaugar. The first lake is Ljótipollur, a crater lake with high edges in an unbelievable shade of red that contrast the azure blue water. The second is Frostaðavatn lake, a wide and beautiful lake popular among photographers around the world.

The rhyolite mountains at Landmannalaugar appear in shades of red, pink, green and golden yellow, bestowing an otherworldly feel upon the whole area. You will get a chance to hike up one of the area’s many hiking trails before taking a dip in the naturally heated geothermal pool and relax after a day of travelling.

Before you head back to the city, you will make a quick stop in Dómadalur valley where you will find the waterfall, Þjófafoss. You will be thankful for the superjeep as it is one of the few vehicles that can easily access the route to this gorgeous waterfall. You will also visit the magnificent volcano Hekla, one of Iceland’s most active volcanoes.

Thor the guide was hilarious, kind and gave us enough time to hike and take pictures, really appreciate his nice manner. Would definitely need to return again as there's so much more to see in the area.

The Super Jeep Tour to Landmannalaugar with an amazing experience. Thor, the guide of our small group was terrific. He gave us a lot of information, plenty of time to take photos on our loop hike at Landmannalaugar and other places of interest. The all day tour included also stops at a beautiful crater lake, a waterfall and an amazing canyon with lots of waterfalls. This super Jeep tour with Thor as the guide was definitely a highlight of my road trip around Iceland.

This tour was clearly the highlight of our trip. Mr. Gravel was the best. He showed us great spots to watch the Hekla vulcano and hiking spots in the landmanalaugar. The landscapes were stunning!

This was such a terrific way to spend a day! Being off the beaten path, with just a small group of people, bouncing around the gravel roads of the highlands was really thrilling. We lucked out with the weather -- it was a crystal-clear day, all day -- so the views were breathtaking. Hiking around Landmannalauger was an absolute highlight of my stay in Iceland, thanks in no small part to our wonderful guide, Hjalti. (Sorry if the superlatives are really was that good!) Bring a water bottle, a packed lunch (there's a small cantina in the park, but the selection is limited), and pack as light as you can (there is zero storage in the vehicle). Highly, highly recommended.

Amazing experience. Guide was friendly and informative. Vehicle was comfortable. The sights were indescribable! The superjeep allowed us to go to places we otherwise would not have been able to get to. Our group all agreed it was worth every penny! It helps if you bring food for lunch and snacks, and water for the 2-hour (optional) hike. But you can pick up something at a gas station along the way if you don't have time. I also wish I would have brought a towel and flip flops for the hot spring in addition to my bathing suit, but you can rent a towel there.

Absolutely stunning trip in a super awesome car. We got to visit the active Hekla volcano lava field, a couple of cool waterfalls, went on a 3 hour stunning hike and relaxed in a natural geothermal bath. It's like the perfect condensed trip for short visits. The driver was helpful and well informed. Highly recommended. Bring water, snacks and lunch with you. Swimming suit of course too. Enjoy.

Great experience with stunning views all the time. We were lucky to have a clear sky so we could see really far. It was a small group and there weren't yet many hikers, which made it even more special. Valthor was a very good guide.
