Description

While in Iceland, make sure you take the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

The Northern Lights are a beautiful dancing light in the sky is best seen in the northern hemisphere on a cold winter evening when the sky is clear.

Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, are a natural light display in the sky created when fast-moving, charged particles from the sun collide with atoms and molecules in the Earth's atmosphere, usually at about 100km altitude.

The most common colours of Northern Lights are yellowish-green and green; but red, reddish-purple, pink and purple shades are also sometimes seen.

The best time to see the Northern Lights is at night, so those tours usually start around 8 pm, and you can stay until hunting for the lights until 2 am.

We will pick you up at your hotel and drive outside the capital where light pollution from the city does not interfere with this unique experience. Be sure to be warmly dressed as you may have to be patient while waiting for the lights to appear and it can get cold in Iceland at wintertime. You will also want to be warm enough to stand out of the car for the best view.

It is hard to promise you will see the Northern Lights, as they are a natural phenomenon, but the period between September and April is the best time to catch a sighting.

The lights are only visible under certain conditions: there has to be good solar activity and a clear sky. If you are lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, then it is an experience you will never forget.

Your guide will take you wherever there is the best chance to see them. You and your guide will follow weather conditions to have the best chance of a successful aurora hunt. If the weather forecast is not so good for Northern Lights hunting on your booked time, then your tour operator will be in touch to inform you and talk about the possibility of changing the date.

Book now and enjoy chasing the beautiful dancing Northern Lights.
