The day begins when a friendly and experienced guide meets you at the glacier lagoon parking lot inside the Vatnajokull National Park. From there, you'll ride a 4x4 vehicle toward the parking lot of the majestic Vatnajokull glacier. As you pass through a bumpy F-road, your guide will give you a brief history of the glacier.

The Vatnajokull glacier covers approximately 3,127 square miles (8,100 square kilometers), which is about eight percent of Iceland's landmass. This massive ice cap also sits atop several active volcanoes, adding to its dynamic nature.

With the help of your crampons, you'll walk along the glacier until you reach the moulin, a crevice carved by meltwater that extends to the glacier's surface. The moulin's area is where the zipline action takes place.
