Description

Book this exciting 10.5-hour guided excursion to explore the incredible natural sights of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. This private sightseeing tour is perfect for those who want to discover black-sand beaches, picturesque mountains, and quaint Icelandic villages with an expert guide.

Your tour starts when your expert local guide picks you up from your accommodation in Reykjavik. This excursion is a private tour, meaning it will be just you and your party.

Private tours are an excellent option, as there's no need to wait for other guests. You can tailor the itinerary to your preferences, spending more time at your favorite destinations and speeding up in places less interesting to you.

During the tour, you'll have plenty of opportunities to chat with your guide, ask questions, and have your photos taken. Transportation is in a luxury van, making for a comfortable drive to the Snaefellsnes peninsula.

The Snaefellsnes peninsula in West Iceland is often called "Iceland in Miniature" due to its diverse landscapes.

This 56-mile (90-kilometer) stretch features stunning beaches with black volcanic sands, dramatic cliffs, charming fishing villages, and the iconic Snaefellsjokull volcano, capped with an imposing glacier.

Historical sites, like the old church at Budir and the fishing hamlet of Arnarstapi, add cultural depth to the natural beauty.

The first stop on the tour is Berserkjahraun, a moss-covered lava field created by the eruption of the nearby Bjarnarhafnarfjall mountain over 4,000 years ago. The lava field's rugged, mossy terrain characterizes the area, making it a gorgeous landscape for exploration.

The iconic Kirkjufell mountain can be seen here, so it's an excellent opportunity to take some photographs. Standing around 1,519 feet (463 meters) tall, its unique, pointed shape makes it one of the most photographed mountains in the country. Its striking appearance has also earned it a place in popular culture, including in TV shows like Game of Thrones.

Next, you'll head into Snaefellsjokull National Park, home to the mighty Snaefellsjokull glacier and volcano. This incredible icy wonderland stands about 4,744 feet (1,446 meters) above sea level and is one of Iceland's most famous landmarks. It gained literary fame as the setting for Jules Verne's novel Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Next, you'll visit the Djupalonssandur black-sand beach. Here, you can see some interesting rock formations and lifting stones. Your guide will tell you more about their story as you travel.

Your guide will also take you to Arnarstapi, a charming fishing village where you can learn more about Iceland's fishing tradition and see some birdlife.

On the way back to Reykjavik, you'll stop briefly at the Budir church, a picturesque black building surrounded by stunning nature.

Finally, you'll visit Ytri-Tunga, a beach with golden sands home to a large colony of seals. If you're lucky, you'll see some of these beautiful animals and can take more photos.

At the end of the tour, your guide will drop you off back at your accommodation in Reykjavik.

Don't miss this immersive experience discovering the incredible natural sights of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Check availability now by choosing a date.
