Description

Join this amazing day tour, which takes you to see all the classic sights on the South Coast. An expert tour guide will tell you about the area's history and nature while you visit natural wonders such as Reynisfjara black sand beach and the Reynisdrangar pillars, Skógafoss Waterfall and Seljalandsfoss Waterfall.

If the sky is relatively clear, you are going to be able to see notorious volcanoes Hekla, Katla and Eyjafjallajökull on the tour, and see how eruptions in past centuries have changed the landscape dramatically. Large areas of the south coast were covered in layers of ash after the Eyjafjallajökull volcanic eruption in 2010, and the glacial outburst flood caused rivers to overflow and change courses.

The first stop is at Skógafoss, a 60-meter tall waterfall named after the nearby farm of Skógar. On sunny days, you might be able to see a rainbow form in the spray from the waterfall. From Skógafoss we will continue to the small village of Vík for a lunch break. Lunch is not included in the tour, but you can either bring a packed lunch with you or buy a meal at a local restaurant.

The next stop will then be at the famous black sand beach of Reynisfjara. Here you can see the powerful waves of the Atlantic Ocean crash on the shore and surrounding basalt columns. Further out, Reynisdrangar rock formations with their spiky peaks, jut out from the sea to make the view from the coast even more dramatic.

Then you will visit Sólheimajökull, a glacial tongue of Mýrdalsjökull glacier, where you can see the ice from a short distance, before going to the last stop of the tour, Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Seljalandsfoss is a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush farmlands, and you can follow a trail to walk behind it.

Don't miss your chance of exploring all of the main natural features of Iceland's South Coast in a single day. Check availability by choosing a date.
