Description

Enjoy the beautiful landscapes, stunning waterfalls, and mesmerizing lava beaches of Iceland's South Coast. Those eager to enjoy gorgeous views of breathtaking sights like Skogafoss waterfall and Reynisfjara beach should book this small group tour now.

The tour begins with a pick-up in Reykjavik and passes through the active volcano landscape of Hengill. Traveling through the mountains, you'll see the Hellisheidi power plant too.

The entire plateau has many columns of steam erupting from the ground, further demonstrating the intense volcanism of the area.

The first major stop is the Seljalandsfoss waterfall. While the waterfall itself is breathtaking, the true attraction is the trail that runs behind the falls. You can walk behind the waterfall if conditions allow for spectacular views and photographs.

There is also a hidden waterfall, Gljufrabui, nestled in a mountainside nearby, which you can see in summer.

After this, it's time to head to another famous Iceland waterfall. Skogafoss flows directly from two glaciers, Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull, with great power, and on sunny days the spray can produce beautiful double rainbows.

Depending on weather and road conditions, you may get a chance to visit the Solheimajokull glacier on this tour. You'll have the opportunity to walk up to the glacier and touch the ice that has been here for thousands of years.

After all the excitement of the tour so far, you might find that you're hungry. At this point, you'll stop at a restaurant in the village of Vik, where you'll have the chance to buy food. Vik is a charming settlement with a lovely church and welcoming atmosphere.

Another tour highlight is the famous black sand beach, Reynisfjara, which is adjacent to Vik. It has been named one of the top 10 non-tropical beaches in the world by National Geographic and is home to crashing waves and stunning scenery.

You'll also discover the sea stacks of Reynisfjara towering offshore here. Legend states that these huge features used to be trolls that turned to stone while attempting to drag a ship to shore, forever trapping them here.

After marveling over the sites of Reynisfjara, your guide will drive you back to Reykjavik.

This small group tour will show you all the beauty the South Coast of Iceland has to offer, from the peaks of mountains to the rhythmic waves of the coast. Check availability now by choosing a date.
