Fjallavinir

I wanted to take a moment to share my incredible Iceland experience with all of you. I booked a tour with Fjallavinir sf. and was so excited to witness the northern lights in person for the first time..I wish I was able to say the lights were spectacular but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. Usually this would ruin a trip but the guides were so wonderful they still made it an incredibly memorable experience. After driving around Reykjavik for a quick tour of the city, we chased the northern lights hoping to find a break in the cloud cover with no luck. At around midnight I was taken to the guides friends hotel who was kind enough to open the pool and hot tub up for us, we stayed there basking in the warmth for hours until we decided it was time to venture on. Since the goal was to camp overnight and the weather wasn't cooperating it would have been very easy for the guides to drop me off at a hotel and say, "good night and good luck." Incredibly, they offered to let me stay at their beautiful home and when the morning came they wanted to make it up to me (even though it wasn't their fault the clouds wouldn't dissipate) and had planned a day visiting the waterfalls and geysers. I was so blown away by their kindness, their love for Iceland and their willingness to go above and beyond to ensure it was a memorable experience. Not only will I be back to Iceland (for the northern lights) but I will go back on this same tour to spend time with these incredible people. Can't thank them enough and wish I could give more then 5 stars!
