Fantastic tour with a fantastic guide!!

I had an AMAZING time on this hike, and would highly recommend it to anyone. It's rated as easy, but by American standards I think it's more of a moderate hike. There are some steep up hills and downhills to navigate, but my god it's worth it. Landmannalaugar was probably the highlight of my trip. It's hard to capture in photos, but it's so, so beautiful. It's otherworldly. On our last night, chilling in the hotspring and drinking beer, the northern lights suddenly came out full force. The whole trip was just....amazing. Pack warm clothes and waterproof layers. The weather can be a bit unpredictable. But if you're thinking about it, do it.

This is the first time I have been on a guided trek, although I have been a mountain walker all my adult life - I'm now in my 70s. The experience was certainly 5 star rating, and one I hope to do again. We were a quite small group who got on well together, with an excellent guide Andrea, who looked after us both on the mountain and in the hut in an exemplary way. The middle day certainly stretched me, but was well worth the effort, and the first and last days explored the local area and hills with shorter but interesting hikes. The scenery throughout was stunning, and the facts about the formation and development of the volcanic landscape added much to the enjoyment. We were very fortunate with the weather, with no significant rain and good visibility. The facilities in the hut were good, and the dormitories warm and comfortable, and the food cooked for us by Andrea was tasty and plentiful, particularly the roast lamb! You will gather that I really enjoyed this - what wasn't so good? Inevitably there are many hours of bus journeys and changes to get into the mountains, which dragged somewhat, but it did all go to schedule. Would I recommend this trek? Without hesitation - although a small friendly group and good weather did help a lot, and our guide could not have been more helpful - Thankyou Andrea! Tim

A must-do if you're staying in the south west of Iceland. By far my favourite tour experience as it was the most rewarding. It's a very long day, and an amazing hike up into the mountains to eat lunch. Coming back down to relax in a natural hot spring was better than any touristy trip to the Blue Lagoon. You won't believe your eyes on this trip. Would love to do it all over again!
