Japan's Pachinko Hall management company Dynamic Japan Holdings said its total revenue for the quarter ended June 30 fell about 4.8% year-on-year to 38.2 billion yen ($375 million).

That was down 8.3% year-on-year to 213 billion yen, the company said in a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Tuesday. Dynamic did not report a profit for the quarter.

"Throughout the first quarter , utilization of Pachinko machines declined primarily due to higher consumption taxes across the industry compared to the same period last year," the company said in a filing.

Japan raised its sales tax to 8% from 5% in April to reduce its huge debt.

Dynamic said it plans to push for the opening of Pachinko Hall this year at "cheap cost of playing." As of June 21, it had 377 Pachinko Halls operating in Japan, according to the company's website. Dynamic plans to expand this by more than 2.5 times to 1,000 Pachinko Halls by March 2023, it said in its annual report.

Dynam is a sponsor of Macau Legend Development, a Macau casino services company, which has invested $85 million in the company since June last year.

Dynamite said in its annual report that it will "try to make room" for the Japanese casino industry if gambling becomes legal in Japan. Advanced Research Japan Inc., a stock research firm, said earlier this month that Dynamite is the best candidate for casino licenses in Japan.
