GSA Opens Office in Brussels
The Game Standards Association (GSA) announced this week that it had set up a satellite office in Brussels. The International Trade Group said its new office in Belgium was set up as part of a plan to create global standards for the gaming industry.
GSA has offices in the United States and Macau, with the latter serving the Asian region.
The GSA said in a statement that Phyllis Farrugia will manage her new office in Brussels. Farrugia has more than 15 years of experience in EU policy and market reform and regulation, having held senior positions in both government and industrial sectors.
"The GSA's work on establishing online gaming standards is progressing at a fast pace, and Europe has been a leader in the adoption of regulations on online gambling and betting," the KITA said.
It also added that it would work with and consult with stakeholders in the regulatory and policy areas as well as the industry through its European office.
"The GSA believes there is a growing focus on compliance with both regulators and regulators at this stage of regulatory and market development in Europe, and we believe the adoption of common technical standards can be the next component and catalyst for strengthening global cooperation among various stakeholders," Peter DeRaedt, the association's president, said in a statement.
