"Someone tell me" Ten Haag feuds with £73m loan, once back at Man Utd
The controversial Jadon Sancho, the '£73 million star', returns to Manchester United this week.
However, his future is in doubt. "Sancho is set to return to United this week, but his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain," the UK's The Sun reported on Aug. 8, adding that "even the staff at Carrington, United's training ground, don't know whether Sancho will return with the rest of the key players returning for pre-season training.
Typically, details are released in the first week of training. This includes details of players' return dates and testing schedules. However, there is no information on what Sancho's movements will be. There is also no indication that Sancho and manager Eric ten Haag have reconciled after last season's conflict, according to The Sun.
United signed Sancho in July 2021. The transfer fee was a whopping £73 million. However, Sancho scored just five goals in 38 appearances in his first season at United.
In the 2022-2023 season, he scored seven goals in 41 games. However, last season, after just three appearances, he turned his back on the club and returned to his hometown club, Dortmund in the German Bundesliga.
His departure was sparked by a falling out with coach Ten Haag. After a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in September of last year, 에볼루션 바카라사이트 Ten Haag said he left Sancho out of the squad because he wasn't performing at the required level in training.
"I've been an unfair scapegoat for a long time," Sancho retorted. What came back was discipline. Sancho refused to apologize, either. Eventually, he disappeared from United, and it was Dortmund who rejoined him.
Sancho was at the peak of his powers at Dortmund. Despite not making it to the top of the big leagues, he was outstanding in the European Champions League (UCL), leading Dortmund to a runner-up finish. He scored three goals in 21 appearances in the Bundesliga and UCL.
The Englishman blossomed at Dortmund before moving to United. In four seasons at Dortmund, he scored 50 goals in 137 appearances.
The contrast is stark. Sancho's hopes of staying at the club were effectively dashed when Ten Haag won the FA Cup and stayed up. Sancho had two more years left on his contract at United. But he had already crossed the bridge of no return.
It is estimated that United will demand £45 million for Sancho's transfer. That's £30 million less than what United paid for him.
