Son Heung-min, back to Tottenham's front line

Tottenham will play Newcastle United at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Korea time) in the third round of the English Premier League during the 2024-2025 season. The venue is St. James' Park, Newcastle's home.

An away game to Newcastle is like a nightmare to Tottenham. They lost 1-6 in April last year and 0-4 in April this year.

It is also a burden to lose two strikers and have to play. Dominic Solanke, who was acquired in the summer transfer market for 65 million pounds (or 114.2 billion won), which is the most expensive transfer fee in the club's history, disappeared after the opening match.

After missing the match against Everton due to an ankle injury, he will not be able to play against Newcastle. "Solanke is still in the recovery phase. He will not play against Newcastle. He will return after the A-match period is over," Tottenham manager Enze Postecoglou said.

His backup striker Hishalisson will also join the team. Like Solanke, he has an injury. Postecoglou said, "Hishalisson has a muscle injury. We are waiting for additional information. He will not play against Newcastle."

Tottenham has no choice but to use a strategy to establish Son as a front-line striker after the match against Everton. Son's main position is a left-sided striker. However, he has been frequently seen as a front-line striker since last season.

The result was very good. In the last match against Everton, Son constantly pressured from the front to score a goal. The scene where Son stole the ball from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with speed was overwhelming. Son scored two goals on the day, spearheading Tottenham's landslide 4-0 victory.

Son was named the "Man Of the Match" by the Premier League Secretariat. With 17,710 people voting, a whopping 65.8 percent chose Son.

Local media in the U.K. gave positive feedback to Son. "He set an example by pressing from the left side to the end. He stole the ball from Everton goalkeeper Pickford and even scored the second goal calmly through Pickford's legs." The media gave Son the highest rating of nine points among the players of the two teams.

However, the team is not easy to deal with this time around. Coach Postecoglou also remained vigilant ahead of the away match against Newcastle. 안전놀이터

"Newcastle was a well-trained team consisting of outstanding players," he said, before adding, "We met Newcastle and did well at home, but we did not have that in the away game. After allowing a run, we lost our composure. It is also problematic for them to concede consecutive goals. The Newcastle fans have created an excellent atmosphere for the team. They are making us get caught up in the past games," adding, "Our players have had important experiences in the past games. We have learned a lot. Nevertheless, this away game will be a difficult one, too."
